The Individual Artist Project grant category supports Oakland-resident individual artists producing art activities in Oakland that culminate in a local public outcome for the benefit of the community. Such activities may include, but are not limited to, performances of dance, music or theater, visual art and public art projects, classes and workshops, exhibitions, and literary activities. The request amount is $4,999.
All arts and cultural activities for which FY 2016-2017 Cultural Funding Program support is requested must occur within the City of Oakland between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017. If grant is awarded, the City of Oakland requires that the grantee agree to maintain commercial general liability (CGL) and, if necessary, commercial umbrella insurance with a limit of not less than $2,000,000 each occurrence. In addition, a Business Tax Certificate in the name of the Individual artist grantee must be obtained. Eligibility Please carefully review the following eligibility requirements. Artists who have received funds in the Individual Artist Project category for two consecutive years are ineligible to apply for one year (i.e. if you were awarded funds in FY14-15 and FY15-16, you may not apply this year, FY16-17, but may submit an application next year for the FY17-18 funding cycle.) If you are a first-time applicant or have questions regarding eligibility, please contact the Cultural Funding Coordinator at (510) 238-7561.
